Hotelupwell.com – The 2024 Lake Toba F1 Powerboat event was successfully held after featuring the Indonesian Grand Prix final which was won by Team Sharjah from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Team Victory from Dubai and Team Binh Dinh from Vietnam.
The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, appreciated the role of InJourney and the stakeholders who have worked hard to realize the second year of the Formula 1 boat racing competition on Lake Toba.
“I appreciate InJourney and all the stakeholders who I feel are increasingly successful in organizing the F1 Powerboat series (Lake Toba 2024),” said Minister of Youth and Sports Dito at the Media Center Press Conference for F1 Powerboat Lake Toba 2024 in the Maharaja Napitupulu Harbor Area, Balige, North Sumatra Province, on Sunday (3/3/2024).
According to Menpora Dito, the increasing success of the event can be seen from the combination of international water sports activities with various other types of events and competitions.
In fact, the organizing committee was considered successful in combining the Formula 1 boat racing activities with cultural elements and exhibitions for local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
“We will see how the combination of sports performance events is combined with traditional, national and cultural elements and MSMEs,” he said.
Meanwhile, InJourney’s Marketing Director, Maya Watono, said that the success of holding the 2024 F1 Powerboat really made the Tourism and Aviation State Enterprise Holding (BUMN) proud, because it was able to confirm Lake Toba and Indonesia as the main host country for this prestigious international event.
In this case, InJourney is considered to play a role as a catalyst for the development of water tourism destinations (watertourism) in Indonesia by looking at the conditions of this archipelagic country, the majority of whose territory consists of water.
“So indeed, watersports and watertourism are a catalyst for Indonesia’s development,” he said.
Maya further said that in terms of competition, the activities ran more smoothly because last year was hampered by weather so the competition had to be stopped before it finished.
Meanwhile, from an economic perspective, Maya is optimistic that the multi-player effect that will be achieved will be better than in 2023 due to an increase in domestic and international tourist visits of more than 20 percent at Sisingamangaraja XII airport.
“Last year’s economic impact reached IDR 1.6 trillion, we believe it can be more and we are optimistic this year,” said Injourney’s Marketing Director.
